What this site is

Contractor Directory List is an independent directory of home-service contractors in Cincinnati and the surrounding areas, compiled from public business records. It is not affiliated with any government agency. Nothing here is legal advice, and a listing is not an endorsement, a recommendation, or a warranty of anyone's work. We do not inspect, test, screen or vet the businesses listed, and appearing here — at any position in any list — says nothing about the quality of a company's work.

Accuracy of listings

Listings are compiled from public business listings and Google Business Profiles, and those lag reality. A business may have closed, moved, changed its number, changed hands, or stopped working in a trade since the last time we updated it. Service areas and the services a business lists are that business's own description of itself, and we publish them as such rather than as findings of ours.

Check the important things yourself, directly with the contractor. Whatever matters to you before you hand over money — insurance, whether they will pull any permit the job needs, references, the scope, the price — ask the business and get the answer in writing. This site is a starting point for that conversation and is not a substitute for it.

If something is wrong, report it — from anyone, not just the business itself. We correct it and the listing shows a new date when the correction lands.

Hiring a contractor

Any agreement you reach with a contractor is between you and that contractor. We are not a party to it, we take no fee from it, and we never see it — there is no lead form on this site and no call is brokered through us. We are not responsible for the quality, timeliness, safety, or legality of anyone's work, and we cannot mediate a dispute about it.

Listings and advertising

Listings are free. The order of a list comes from the business's Google star rating, highest first; where two businesses share a rating, the one with more reviews is listed first — see how this directory works. A rating cannot be bought.

Featured seats are advertising, and are labelled as advertising wherever they render. A seat buys a box above a list and a link to the business's website. A business holding a seat is also listed first on the lists it appears on while its Google rating is 4.8 or higher, with a Featured label on its row; below that, a seat does not change its position. We reserve the right to decline or remove a Featured placement.

Claiming a listing lets a business correct its own contact details, service area, trades and services. It does not let a business alter its position in any list. To claim or add a business you need an account, and you must be the owner or someone authorised to act for the business. We may decline a claim, or remove an account's access to a listing, if we cannot confirm that.

Featured subscriptions

A Featured seat is a paid subscription for one labeled advertising placement above one trade's list in one city. Buying one means agreeing to what follows, alongside the rest of these terms.

• It renews automatically, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose, and your card is charged at the start of each period until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time in the billing portal, reached from your account's billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your seat stays up until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• There are no refunds for part of a period. Cancelling mid-month or mid-year does not refund the time left, and the seat runs until that time is up.
• If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over the following days and your seat stays up while it does. If the subscription is cancelled because the payment could not be collected, the seat is released.
• The founding rate is held for as long as the subscription stays active. If it ends and you subscribe again later, the rate at that time applies.
• If a seat cannot be placed when your payment lands — the last seat for that trade and city was taken while you were paying, say — the payment is refunded automatically and the subscription is cancelled.
• You can pay before we have confirmed the business is yours. A seat bought that way stays hidden until ownership is confirmed — straight away when your confirmed email is at the business's own website, otherwise after a quick check. If we cannot confirm it, the payment is refunded in full and the subscription is cancelled. Paying does not by itself make anyone the owner of a listing.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and never reach this site. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes.
• We may decline or remove a placement — for a business that is misrepresented, has closed, or no longer meets the standards for being listed, for instance. If we remove one, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for.

A Featured seat is advertising and nothing more. It does not change a business's position in any list, and it is not an endorsement.

Acceptable use

You may read, link to, and quote this site. You may not scrape it wholesale to build a competing directory, resell the compiled data, or use the contact details published here to send unsolicited commercial messages. The underlying business information is public; our compilation, ordering, writing, and photography selection are not.

Liability

This site is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by Ohio law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it or from any contractor you find through it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Ohio. If we change them materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Questions: use the contact form.
